Peaceful Day

Today started off as one of those rainy days that you could just curl up on the couch under a nice blanket and read a good book. I like to leave the windows open on these kind of days, so it gets really chilly (I am only talking like low 60s here) and you can hear the rain pitter patter on the patio cover. Ah, sweet music.
By the afternoon the rain had mostly moved out, and we were rewarded with this sky. Brilliant blue filled with puffy white clouds. Perfection.
We spent the afternoon at a friend's house. Rhayn played hard with their daughter, L. I don't think you can see it, but there is a zip cord attached to the right hand side of the play structure. The kids love to zip around on it. In the past Rhayn has really loved doing this. But today? She accidentally let go of the cord. She fell and hit her chin hard on the ground. She was left with a nasty scrape and pain in her jaw. Rhayn is a trooper and after a short rest time she was back out playing hard. Eating was a little difficult for her, she really only ate some mashed potatoes and a little bit of apple pie (which was so good.) I hope the pain in her jaw goes away before our second Thanksgiving.

The afternoon turned into evening as we ate and talked. Another storm moved in, but merely grazed the edges of where we were. The adults sat out on the patio chatting while the kids watched a movie inside. It was so peaceful, and quiet. They live just far enough from the city that you can't hear the city noises. It is always hard to leave and come home. But there was someone at home who was freezing. And on her 2nd birthday, too.

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful to have come across your blog all those months ago and am also thankful for the pleasure of getting to know you better through your wonderful writing and photographs. And ps - I totally feel ya on the rain, windows open, chilly willy, bed, blanket and book.

I am glad you had a good and relaxing day! We did too and also enjoyed the lovely weather. It made it feel all the more seasonal for me.

Sounds like a great day. Sitting on the patio for dinner sounds nice. We had snow, so I wasn't up for it.
