Michaelmas

Monday, aside from being the Goo's birthday is Michaelmas. Now Waldorf school celebrate these festivals year round. As the wikipedia entry says, "Michaelmas is still celebrated in the Waldorf schools, which celebrate it as the "festival of strong will" during the autumnal equinox."

Rhayn's school celebrated this festival Friday. This year class 2 (Rhayn's class) performed a play about Saint George and the Dragon. Here are two excepts (as repeated by the entire class, and recalled by Rhayn.)
"With fire and smoke
with poisonous cloak
gliding and sliding
hissing and spitting
ranting and roaring
polluting the air
with venomous breath.
The dragon draws near
Each day does appear
and seizes his prey.""Whoa whoa our princess has fated
she must go to the dragon most hated."

"Fierce as a dragon's might
desperate is our plight
to Micheal we pray
take this awesome plight."

After the play and lunch the school had games for the kids to play. Games like tug-of-war, a straw bale maze, and a beanbag toss. There was a blacksmith demonstration. And the most favorite of all, the most awesome face painter I have ever seen. Gwennie watched him for about an hour. However she was farther back in line and never had a turn. So when we came home that night we got out our face pencils and I drew lovely "fairy eyes" on the girls.

Ah, well, you should have your face painted! Its fun, and these are pretty easy, have Rich (that is his name, right?) do it.

Looks like you could have a career in face painting...or sewing...or writing...

You are very talented!
