The dog dishwasher reminds me of a Little House on the Prairie episode. The girls are staying with their dad's friend (was his name Bear, or something like that?) I don't know why they were there. After dinner, the dog licked the dishes. The girls got right to work in proper cleaning.
I hardly ever watched the show, I was too young, but my older sister loved it. For some reason this is one of the few episodes that stuck with me.

No reason to break the habit, the dishwasher runs on a really high heat AND has bleach in the detergent. Come on, you all want to come eat at my house now, huh?
