This week in Pictures

Baby pumpkin plants peaking up. Mixed in with some sunflowers, because Gwennie was helping me plant the seeds.
Watermelons and a yucca that we thought we killed. For some reason it and its counterpart are just growing like crazy and I don't want to pull them up out of the garden.
It actually RAINED this week. Alright, it was only about ten minutes of rain, and not hard, flash-flooding type rain. It was big fat droplets of delicious rain. The girls loved it.
I made three of these this week, they take about 2 hours from start to finish. Madder has one of them, hers had a pretty yellow mane and is the same brown as the one on the right. The one on the left is Rhayn's and the right is Gwennie's. They love horses and Gwennie was playing with one at a friend's house this week. I got this pattern from handwork and instead of putting little felt circles for the bottom of the feet I used oak buttons. On Madder's I sawed up a wooden dowel and sanded it really well. I bought the oak buttons the morning after I made Madder's. The wooden hooves let them clip clop when you trot them along.

This is Rhayn's last week of 1st grade. I feel sad about it. Friday is the last day. THE LAST DAY. What are we going to do all summer, huh? I mean its going to be a long one. I have a little family trip planned for while Will is home. We need to do that. We haven't taken one since Gwennie was born, and really only one before that. We went to Disneyland when I was eight months pregnant with Gwen- which I hate (sorry Amie, I guess I don't have the patience for waiting in line for a whole day, plus many of the rides you can't do when pregnant!)

*Anyone heard a nursery rhyme that starts "Trot Trot to Market" because I can't find it anywhere except this video on YouTube. And well- that video is not appropriate for children.

Found this on the "internets" when I went to "the google". ;-)

"older babies are dandled on dad or mum’s knee to a nursery rhyme or tune: ‘Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake baker’s man,’ ‘Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross.’ They love the rhythm, clapping, tickling, and bouncing that go with these jingles, such as ‘Trot, trot to market to buy a pound of butter, Trot, trot home again, Drop her in the gutter!’"

Wonder who the her is they are going to drop in the gutter.

Hope all is going great down there in AZ - I want sunflowers too. bought some seeds - not the giant ones you get seeds from but smaller autumn colored ones - guess I should take the time and get them planted.
