Mama Says Om: Fall

Way out west , in the desert that I reside in, Fall is fiction. Autumn is one of those words that we don't really understand. Its a joke, we look at pictures of those lovely fall leaf colors. We bring them into our homes. Maybe we are from another place, one that has seasons, one that is filled with those oranges, and browns and reds. Maybe deep in our souls, we KNOW Autumn. But here, in the middle of the desert, fall is actually a time of birth. It is the time for planting, and growth. There isn't a time of year when something in Arizona is growing, blooming or giving forth fruits.

But sometimes, if you look really hard, and drive far into a mountain area, you JUST MIGHT find a little bit of fall.

(This picture was taken in September of 2004, in Mount Graham, near Safford, at the base of the mountain it was about 90 degrees that day, but as we drove up, up, up it cooled off, and was 53 by the time we reached the top, at 10,000 feel or so in elevation. Very neat place, as an Sky Island range.)

I had NO idea that "fall" didn't happen everywhere in North America! Thanks for sharing!
