Creating

Yesterday Dacheese and I went to Joanns, and I bought stuff to make another quilt. Only I swore I would wait to make it next week. I just couldn't help myself. It only took 2 hours to make. I absolutely fell in love with this brown spotted fabric. I bought enough to make two kid sized blankets with it. The first one I made I think I am giving to my friend's daughter. (The one I made the snail quilt for, she has a 4 year old, and I want her to have it.) I plan on making another, different, for Gwennie maybe- or maybe I'll keep it and make a pouch or a mei tei, or something for me (maybe a really cool bag?)

I am not totally happy with how it came out, I wish I had only used two different colors for the contrasting colors. I actually bought more colors because I wanted to use more, there were so many that matched it! I used a flannel for the edges and the back is solid green. (It is really REALLY soft!) I think the finished project is 40 inches by 50 inches. It is the perfect size for Rhayn, and Turtle is a little smaller than her, so it should be great for her!

Oh and here is a picture of the apron and stuff I had to make for Rhayn's school. I made Rhayn a matching skirt, because I had left over fabric, and used it to line a reversible pouch that I made, but I don't have a picture of that! The skirt is a simple drawstring . It came out really cute, with the two fabrics in verticle stripes that are about 9 inches wide. I really like it, and it was so simple that I told her we could make some more like it. I think her school would appreciate them, since they are all about homemade dolls and toys and things. Yes, I have attempted to make one of those dolls, and it came out- ok. I plan on trying again!

oh yeah - I was about to ask the same thing! I need a few more skirts myself. I have one that I absolutely love and it has worked well even through this pregnancy! Gotta love anything that expands and still flatters your body! If you are game - I can send you mine after summer and you can use it as a pattern for us. Mine is the perfect length for me but MLM might need a few more inches added to hers. I found my skirt a few years ago at Forever 21 for less than $5 and I've had no luck finding anymore and have had no desire to sew some up myself. Let us know if we can use your awesome sewing skills! Maybe MLM you and I could head out to Joann's for a fabric expedition? I'll be up for some walking/shopping/hiking and anything else that will prime me to go into labor anytime!

I would LOVE to! I need more projects. I will have to post a picture of Rhayn's skirt. I really like it, and when we were at her school today there was a girl there with a skirt like it only with about 5 different fabrics and some rick rack along the hem. I totally fell in love with it, and will be attempting that for her next! I am so glad she doesn't have a uniform!
