Everything was going so well! Then Friday night, I suddenly got the chills and a fever. I looked in "The Nursing Mother's Companion" book. It seems I have mastitis, or a "breast infection." Yeah.
I spent all day yesterday in bed sweating, then freezing. Its awful. My breast hurts less today and my fever is down quite a bit, but its still miserable!
Anyway, I am glad this happened early on, because I am still getting used to the feeling of milk let down and her latching on. So its not a big deal to have another little pain. Although I could do without the fever!

I can totally relate I had mastitis twice with Kynzie, and I tell you what, the heating pad became my best friend. I think that was the sickest I've ever been in my life (delusional fever). Good for you to have a good attitude, because through it all the wonderful things that come from breastfeeding out wiegh the bad by a lot. Keep up the good work!
Delusional fever, huh? I haven't had it that bad, yet.
Did you have to have antibiotics, or did it go away on its own?
I know the benefits outweigh the bad. Its such an awesome experience, and I am so glad that I am able to do it.
I did have to have antibiotics the first time. But the second time I caught it before it got to bad, and used a heating pad. It really helped to make it feel better.
I think its gone, my fever is mostly gone (down to 99) and I the awful headache is gone. So hopefully I am better without needing anitbiotics!
