I could live in this weather forever.

Another beautiful day and I want to sing about it. Around ten this morning I took the girls (including Lily) for a walk. The weather was just chilly enough for a long sleeved top.
There is a walking path close to our house that runs between our neighborhood and some old farm land filled with horses and old trees. There are wild growing mesquite there, unmanicured and draping like willows. With the wetness and irrigation in one of the fields (see behind Gwennie) there was a smell that took me back to my childhood. Maybe it was out on Hairball's family stead or maybe the smell comes from further back in my life. I just know for a moment the wet mesquite and wet land smelled like childhood and happiness. And if there had been a moist creosote bush around? I would have just about been in heaven. Lily enjoyed being out and was even able to smell another dog. The dog's walker asked if she was a nice dog, and allowed her dog to smell Lily when I said she is. We chatted for a minute, her asking (as usual) what breed Lily is. I have started loving the "She is a pit bull" reaction. The woman said she had never met a nice pit bull nor had she ever seen one that looked like Lily. I know she has unusual markings. I laughed, and said "Its all in how you raise them." I think that is true for any dog. Any dog will be mean if you don't give them the right experiences and allow them to be around other dogs and other people. (Ask my brother about that.) Lily just about licked the little cocker spaniel's face off, their tails wagging in joy. I recognized the dog from a window near the mailboxes. She was barking like crazy when we walked by later. Normally Lily doesn't get to talk to other dogs on a walk. But we were exploring, and smelling and digging, and looking at every nest in every tree we found. There was no purpose in our walk other than to enjoy the lovely, perfect, weird weather. Here is a gratuitous picture of Lily- mid sneeze. Because it looks quite silly.

Today reminded me of an English summers day because so many of them are like this, cloudy, and then sunny, cool, (for here but not there), and rainy a little too. Cloudy days here very often take me back to my childhood.

Amazing how much those pics look like SD. Even the weather was like up north for a day or two. It was grand and quite a break from our heat.
