I planted quite a few things in my garden at the beginning of "fall". However none of them really grew. The plants that did take over the northeastern part of my garden were watermelons. I had planted these at the beginning of the summer and only had a few golf ball sized melons that the bugs loved.
But now, I have about 3 fairly large watermelons growing. There are about 5 more little ones on the vine, too. I am sure it will freeze soon and these will die. But for the time being, they look awesome. The girls and I plan to eat the largest one tomorrow.

Wow, I am impressed! Our watermelon grew a tiny little thing that didn't get very far. I have always wanted to grow melons, it is such an un-English thing to grow! Maybe next year.
My, what large watermelons you have! Ok...slightly inappropriate but I couldn't help it. Those melons look great! Hope you all have a feast tomorrow.
So cool!
how cool! and I'm jealous! my garden produced bupkis!
