I am so depressed. It looks like Bug and I may not be able to make it to the reunion. She has developed quite a nasty yeast infection. I thought it was a diaper rash, and had been treating it as such, however it is apparent that is not cutting it. She had a screaming fit today. We went out to eat and she cried and yelled and was nearly inconsolable through the meal. When we got home, I changed her diaper and tried putting a little powder on it, I had used desitin in the past, but it made her scream even more.
After about 30 minutes of the crying/screaming I finally climbed into the shower with her. We rinsed her vaginal area totally out, and used a mild soap to get the powder and left over rash cream off. The she calmed down.
I sat in the chair with her wrapped in a towel and nursed her to sleep. It was the first time in about 3 hours that she was calm.
After she fell into a deep sleep, I lay her in the playpen. She still remained diaperless, and I called my mom and looked up information on how to deal with the rash. While talking to my mom, we realized it must be a yeast infection. She is taking antibiotics, and its HOT, and humid and nasty out. I have been pretty good about changing her every hour, but I had been wiping her with wipes some of the time. The other times I sit her in the bathroom sink and wash her off. I think that will be the way to go, and let her dry before putting on another diaper.
Well, if its not looking any better tomorrow, I suppose we'll go back to the urgent care. I am really hoping we can get this resolved. She still have 5 days of antibiotics left, too. So even if its better, that means it will probably come back.
I really wanted to go camping, I was really looking forward to seeing my relatives and hanging out with TLC. Just thinking that I won't get to see them makes me want to cry. Even if Bug is really bad, we might head up for a day, or one overnighter. We'll see. It is all up in the air right now. I just can't believe my rotten luck.

Yes, absolutely. OTC monistat type stuff works on little ones. Just apply it topically (not intravaginally). It helps. And while she's on the ABX give her yogurt or Kefir. She needs those good bacteria! As do you, it will get to her thru milk, but best if she gets it herself. You can also apply plain (NO SUGAR!) yogurt to her bottom for relief, but if you're trying to clear it up, monistat will be quickest. And don't put diaper rash creams or powders on her. It can sting yeasty tissue. If you're using the cloth diapers still, wash them and hang them in the sun to dry. Yeast can survive the washer/dryer. You can also put a few drops of grapefruit seed extract into your diaper pail water to help kill the yeast. But definitely hang them in the sun.Best remedy. Otherwise you'll just being going in circles with the yeast and cloth.
My daughter and I fought this when she was 10 months old. It was hell for a month or so until I figured out what to do and then it cleared up in like 3 days!
You should be able to go to the reunion. You might want to use disposables for the time being and leave her naked for periods to let her air out. Yeast hates air. Needs moisture to live.
Yech! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all this sickness! Prayers for you all to get healthy and enjoy your family reunion!
